Governors

We would like to welcome Mrs Williams as our new Chair of Governors. A huge thank you to Mr Edwards for his superb support and contributions over his term of office.

The governing board is the school’s accountable body. It is responsible for the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards.

It has three core functions:

  • To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of Oxton St Saviour's School.
  • To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • To oversee the financial performance of the school, and to make sure its money is well spent

The governing board aims to ensure that children are attending a successful school which provides them with a good education and supports their well-being. As governors of the voluntary aided school with religious character we have a legal responsibility to ensure that the school is conducted according to the Christian values and the teachings of the Church of England. However, whilst all governors share the same generic responsibilities it is the foundation governors who are appointed in order to fulfil special legal responsibilities.

I hope the accompanying pages provide some insight into the work of governors. Please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office if you would like any further information on the governing board.
